Segala Certifies The Da Vinci Code Trail Website

Provides Web Accessibility Audit, Certification and Trustmark for Sony Ericsson and O2 Website to Coincide with Launch of Film

London, England, June 24nd 2006 – Segala, a worldwide provider of web accessibility certification and trustmark services with global headquarters in Dublin, Ireland, has announced that it has audited and provided an accessibility certificate and the Segala-Certified™ website trustmark for the Sony Ericsson The Da Vinci Code Trail website. The website has been launched to celebrate the film and to provide a whole range of The Da Vinci Code film related content, offers and promotions from Sony Ericsson and the promotion's operating partner, O2. The aim of the website is to provide interactive information on Sony Ericsson The Da Vinci Code campaign promotions and was designed and built by Iris and Suburb. The site can be found at http://www.davincicodetrail.co.uk/.

Segala was responsible for all the testing and consulting services for the website to ensure that it provides a version that is fully accessible according to the required W3C web accessibility guidelines level. Development and testing of the site was conducted in partnership with the project’s marketing and build agencies and delivered to comply with the accessibility requirements of O2, the operating partner for the website promotion. All of O2’s websites developed either directly in-house, or by any 3rd-party agency on behalf of O2, are mandated to be fully compliant with O2’s strict web accessibility compliance requirements to WCAG 1.0 level “AA” and 3 checkpoints in “AAA”. The Segala-Certified trustmark to indicate this is displayed on all relevant pages of the website and it links to the certificate that verifies the website conforms to the requirements.

Ben Padley, Marketing Director UK and Ireland for Sony Ericsson, said “The website forms a critical part of our campaign to promote our partnerships with The Da Vinci Code and our partner, O2. With the excitement of the launch of the film and the online promotions we are doing around it the site will be very popular so we wanted to provide a version of the site that is as accessible as possible for as many people as possible. With that goal in mind, Segala were the obvious choice to help us build a site that meets our strict requirements for compliance with the W3C accessibility standards. They have delivered exactly what we needed.”

Paul Walsh, CEO of Segala said “This has been a really exciting project for Segala and we were delighted to be involved with developing the accessible version of the site. We had to make sure that the website met the strict accessibility compliance guidelines specified for the project and by the promoters”. “The website has been built using some sophisticated design and technologies, so along with the marketing and build agencies involved, we developed a HTML version of the site that contains all of the information and promotions of the Flash site but makes it available to all users. The end result is a website with a great balance between the creativity of the campaign design, execution of the site and its’ accessibility “ he added.
