San Juan, PR. Pulso Latino, became the newest addition to the blogsphere. The blog, created and launched by Puerto Rican journalist Elisabeth Román, will provide commentaries on politics, culture, entertainment, and other events impacting Puerto Rico and Hispanics in the U.S.

With nearly 20 years of journalism experience, Román is the former editor of Caribbean Business, Puerto Rico’s foremost business newspaper and several publications on the island. She currently works as a freelance journalist for publications in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean region.

An award-winning journalist, Román received the Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce 2005 Zenith Award for Outstanding Journalism; UNESCO 2005 award for excellence and contribution to arts & culture; Special Recognition Award from the Puerto Rico Hotel & Tourism Association in 2005; and received Special Distinction Award from the Puerto Rico Senate. She earned a Masters in Public Administration and a Bachelor degree in Political Science from the University of Illinois-Chicago.

“Pulso Latino provides an exceptional opportunity to go beyond local and regional publications to reach a wider audience,” said Román, editor of Pulso Latino.

The new blog is targeted towards the millions of Puerto Ricans residing on the island and in the U.S., as well as Hispanics throughout the nation. “With blogs playing a greater role in the way we communicate and disseminate information globally, Pulso Latino seeks to provide visitors with insight into the latest issues impacting residents of Puerto Rico and Latinos in the U.S. in a timely manner,” Roman commented.

The site is also intended to create a direct link where Puerto Ricans on the U.S. mainland can stay informed and comment on what is happening socially, politically, and economically in Puerto Rico.

“The best part of blog publishing is that I am able to have editorials and articles released to readers as soon as they are finished and visitors are able to express their comments as soon as they read them, unlike print publishing where days or weeks can often go by before a reader’s commentary or opinion is published” Roman added.

Pulso Latino will be updated on a regular basis and as it continues to grow the weblog will provide links other interesting websites and blogs. The site’s address is http://pulsolatino.blogspot.com.
