Chandigarh is all set to host the next international IT conclave on 19-21 July.
This is the second time that the city is hosting this event. The first e-Revolution last year provided a framework for guiding the IT initiative of all the three states i.e. Punjab, Haryana, and Union Territory, in an integrated manner. This year’s event shall catapult the Chandigarh Capital Region, which has emerged as a cluster attracting many IT/ITES companies, into a knowledge Hub.

The state governments of Haryana and Panjab along with Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) are the major partners of E-revolution 2006 with NASSCOM, Chandigarh IT Club, and Society for Promotion of IT in Chandigarh (SPIC) as associates.

This is a unique platform for all the three governments to address the common agenda – creating value in the business eco-system for IT-ITES industry as well as explore opportunities for Shared Services in the national e-governance initiative.

On the first day, the plenary sessions by NASSCOM shall focus on the ICT potential of the northern states, particularly in the Chandigarh Capital Region (including Panchkula, Baddi, Mohali). The sessions also cover New Thinking about Innovation: Making Change Work For You, Effective Strategies for Emerging Companies, and Industry - Academia collaboration for sustaining India’s competitive edge.

The second day’s focus is on striking the balance between effective service levels and cost-efficiency through Shared Services, an area of intense current interest to both multi-locational corporates and governments. It looks to furthering the ways in which Information and Communication Technology (ICT) can deliver more towards making the process of Government a faster, fairer and friendlier one. Through the National Action Plan (2003-05) on e-governance, many governments across the country are looking at Shared Services. This will ensure responsiveness to the citizen’s needs, while curtailing costs and redundancy in IT infrastructure.

e-Revolution 2006 shall also showcase CCR as a top achiever in the realm of e-governance in the country. It also espouses the advancement of the region as a whole by forging a common platform between governments, businesses, and by facilitating collaboration. As such, it will draw together central ministers, senior bureaucrats, corporate planners, HR heads, CEOs, policy advisors, education experts and local entrepreneurs in a constructive agenda to promote the region even further.

Networks, connectivity, wireless solutions, last mile issues, bandwidth are certainly among the challenges being addressed and resolved. Change Management, Re-training, Manpower Development, Systems Integration are surely on the anvil, being hammered out and given a definite shape. R & D agendas, GIS applications, Data warehousing come into sharp focus and feature in the Expert Panel discussions.

Besides the formal seminar sessions, there are visits to the Technology Parks, an e-governance clinic, and networking dinners for informal interaction.
Registrations to the event are open online through a dedicated website www.erevindia.com hosted by the event’s organizer, Cybermedia Events.
