Arthur St. Onge Awarded 2005 Reed-Apple Award

York, Pa. – The Material Handling Education Foundation (MHEF) recently announced that Arthur St. Onge is the recipient of its 2005 Reed-Apple award.
“This honor recognizes Mr. St. Onge's ongoing contribution, dedication, and service to education in the material handling logistics field and support of the Material Handling Education Foundation,” according to a statement issued by the foundation.
Art St. Onge is president emeritus and a founding partner of York, PA-based The St. Onge Co.

The foundation noted that many of St. Onge’s “strategic design concepts in manufacturing and distribution facility designs using emerging automated material handling technology, robotics, and information/control systems have become today's standards.”

“Art has always been an innovative thinker in the material handling industry and throughout his career he constantly promoted education as a way to attract, develop and nurture the best available talent,” said Mike Jones, president, St. Onge. Co. “There is no one more deserving of this prestigious honor.”

According to the foundation, they awarded the honor to St. Onge for:

· Demonstrating a long-term commitment to education in the material-handling field.
· Participating in the promotion of education and serving as the president (2000 – 2002) and vice president 2002 – 2006.
· Support of the College Industry Council on Material Handling Education by hosting the 2000 Research Colloquium.
· Creating the Institute St. Onge as an educational affiliate of the St. Onge Co.
· Offering his services as keynote speaker for various organizations and institutions throughout the world.
The foundation is part of the Material Handling Industry of America. The award is named for material handling education pioneers Jim Apple, Sr. and Rudy Reed.
