FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DALLAS, Texas—Earlier this month, Hitting in the Clutch by Brad Bauer was published by iUniverse, Inc., a division of Barnes & Noble.
In Hitting in the Clutch, Jack “Clutch” Thompson isn’t an average professional baseball player. While he has led his Arizona Diamondback team in home runs for the past two years, nearly all of them have come in dire, clutch situations. No matter how hard he tries, he cannot hit consistently while playing in a starting role.
Hitting in the Clutch takes the reader back to the days when clubhouse mentality centered on fun and teamwork, without the damper of steroids, salary problems, and potential labor strikes—though Clutch does mention each, and gives his unasked for opinion on them. After all, Clutch truly only lives for three things: baseball, women (“monkey”), and money—and not necessarily in that order. The reader follows the blundering first baseman as he parties, curses, and ruminates about the daily stresses of being a Major League baseball player.
“I’m thrilled,” Bauer said. “This book is my baby. It’s taken a lot of work, but once you hold your actual book in hand, it’s all worth it. I haven’t been this excited since Barry Bonds cursed at me when he gave me his autograph.”
Bauer graduated from Baylor University in 2003. He obtained a B.A. in telecommunications and minored in public relations. He often wrote editorials and columns for the school newspaper, The Baylor Lariat, as well as the school’s alumni magazine, Focus. He also provided color commentary and play by play for the Baylor Bears during the 2002-2003 baseball season.
Hitting in the Clutch (ISBN: 0595395090), is available through the publisher’s website, www.iUniverse.com, as well as Bauer’s website, www.hittingintheclutch.com. Both have links to other retailers like Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com. The novel retails for $13.95.
Bauer resides in Dallas and is already hard at work on the sequel.
