San Diego - "What's the Vig?", an independent feature film, cast and shott entirely in San Diego, has been entered into competition at some of the biggest film festivals in the US. The films producers, Dawson Digital Productions, are waiting to hear from the San Diego Film Festival and the San Diego Asian Film Festivals regarding their entry. Submission to the FirstGlance Film festival in Hollywood has just been sent out.

The film, "What's the Vig?," is the story of Tommy Irish, a dreamer and documentary filmmaker large on ambition, thin on talent. He brings his ragtag film crew into a print shop, attempting to capture the pulse of America – the small business. Under time pressure from the Donald Vito, who wants to collect the Vig, Tommy begins to panic – his frustration at watching the ink dry drives him to "direct" reality. Complicating his life is his desire to define his ambiguous sexuality with his beautiful line producer, Julia. His nemesis is Kenneth, the religiously hypocritical owner of the print shop, who is hatching an evil master plan.

The film is written and directed by Al Stoffel. Screenings are already scheduled in Los Angeles in September, at the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival. The film, shot entirely deferred, is seeking distribution and hopes to receive recognition at several of the larger film festivals in the US. Go to http://www.whatsthevig.com
