AXIOMTEK Unveils New Low Power Fanless Pentium M EPIC SBC with PC104+ Interface

AXIOMTEK, an Associate Member of the Intel Communications Alliance (ICA), is proud to launch a new low power EPIC (Embedded Platform for Industrial Computing) form factor SBC, the EP811, which features an Intel® 852GM with ICH*4 chipset. The EP811 supports Intel® Pentium® M and Intel® Celeron® M processors running at 400MHz FSB speeds for convenient logistic and better CPU performance; low voltage Intel® Pentium® M and ultra low voltage Intel® Celeron® M processors are available as well. Available in a choice of configurations and options, the SBC offers developers a robust and reliable platform to build on with the added benefit of being able to realize faster times to market for new products. As a member of the ICA, AXIOMTEK joins a large community of communications and embedded developers and solution providers.

To meet the original concept of EPIC, which is with PC/104 expansion capability, the EP811 comes with both PC/104 for 16-bit ISA and PCI104 for 32-bit PCI interfaces. This EPIC SBC is the only possible solution for a single embedded board to support the reliable and anti-vibration PC/104+ expansion. It is the ideal cost effective compact size embedded computing engine where laptop Intel® Pentium® M and Celeron® M CPUs are needed.

EPIC is a new standard for SBC’s (Single Board Computers) with a defined 4.53" x 6.50" (115mm x 165mm) form factor, which has 29.4 square inches in total real estate and suits a broad range of applications for which EBX is too large a solution and PC/104-Plus would require multiple boards. The standard allows PC-style connectors for I/O’s instead of the pin-headers common on PC/104 designs, and it also tends to increase reliability, particularly in environments that are prone to extreme shock and vibration.

The ideal cost effective compact size SBC easily works with regular laptop Intel® Pentium® M and Celeron® M CPU’s. This helps to lower the total cost of ownership (TCO) when compared to other small form factor SBC’s with onboard low power CPU support only, and furthermore, the EP811 offers a CPU option with an ultra low voltage onboard 800MHz & 1GHz Intel® Celeron® M processor. Additionally, the board offers a DualView display function, which is a popular display solution for transaction terminals such as DualView self-help fueling machines and DualView POS/KIOSK systems.

With Intel IPD’s commitment, the EP811 is guaranteed to be available under a long term supplying trend. Other rich I/O features, which include Fast Ethernet (10/100Mbps), CompactFlashTM Type II wit DMA mode, 4 USB 2.0 ports, AC’97 Codec Audio, and digital I/O, maximize customer’s business opportunities to adopt the board into various applications.
