SHAWNEE MISSION, Kan.—On July 8, the Muscular Dystrophy Association will show its appreciation to 400 Kansas and Missouri Firefighters for all the work they do throughout the year by hosting the first ever Firefighter Appreciation Day at the “K”.
“We wanted to plan an event for the Firefighters to show them how much we appreciate their partnership with MDA,” said Ken Jackson, regional director.
The tailgating party will begin at 4 p.m. at Lot N with food, beverages and a special visit from Sluggerrr.
“The event will allow the Firefighters to socialize and get to know each other,” Jackson said. “Most of all, we just want them to have a good time.”
The Kansas City Royals will play the Toronto Blue Jays at 6:10 p.m. Kansas and Missouri Firefighter Ambassadors will throw the first pitch.
Firefighters support MDA by participating in the annual Fill-the-Boot Campaign that raises $1.5 million in Kansas and Missouri annually, volunteering at MDA Summer Camp and volunteering at Lock-Ups throughout the year.
MDA is a voluntary health agency working to defeat more than 40 neuromuscular diseases through programs of worldwide research, comprehensive services, and far-reaching professional and public health education. For more information, call (913) 492-0100.
