IAOP CERTIFIES FIRST GROUP OF OUTSOURCING PROFESSIONALS

July 07, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
Lagrangeville, NY —The International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP), the professional body representing practitioners of the world’s fastest growing business segment, graduated its first class of Certified Outsourcing Professionals (COPS) today.

The thirteen professionals work across the outsourcing field as clients, providers and advisors in eight different industries on three continents. The certification process was rigorous. Each candidate had to complete and have reviewed by a panel of their peers an extensive application documenting the projects they had lead and results achieved, their personal knowledge of the strategic, implementation and operational intricacies of outsourcing, and their overall educational background - both on outsourcing and on general business topics. The thirteen professionals who have earned the Certified Outsourcing Professional (COP) designation have distinguished themselves as leaders in the field.

“This remarkable group of men and women are a snapshot of a connected, experienced, motivated multicultural community of professionals that is transforming the modern corporation and evolving the global business model,” Michael Corbett, IAOP President opined. “As outsourcing enters its third generation, processes are becoming standardized, strategies are taking shape and professional managers like these pioneering individuals are becoming critical resources to manage outsourcing relationships and realize the full value of outsourcing as a corporate strategy. At the moment, the dearth of trained professionals is the gating factor in the growth of outsourcing globally. Soon cadres of certified professionals will change global attitudes and practices for the better.”

Mid-Career Professionals Average 15 Years in Outsourcing

The first class of Certified Outsourcing Professionals is made up of nine men and four women with an average age of 40 years old and an average work experience of fifteen years in outsourcing. Half have MBAs and most earned undergraduate degrees in the sciences and engineering. They work in pharmaceuticals, real estate, consumer packaged goods, manufacturing, telecom, information technology, financial services and professional services. Two are Indian, one is Canadian and one is from Mauritius. Others represent seven US states.

“These individuals represent many different skill sets and career pathways that characterize the emerging outsourcing profession,” Christina Powers, IAOP Director of Association and Professional Development observed. “Individually and collectively they have demonstrated a remarkable ability to learn, adapt and invent a new profession on a global scale. The Certified Outsourcing Professional (COP) program aims to gather, share and further evolve this process of invention and innovation.”
