Croton Falls, NY: High quality professional theater is nothing new at The Schoolhouse in Croton Falls. Located just one hour north of New York City, this theater has been able to tap into the very best actors, designers and production staff that New York has to offer. Now, students and lovers of theater will be able to learn from some of these same professionals.

The classes offered cover a range of study with something for everyone. The acting classes will work on improv, scene study, monologues and technique. Stand-up comedy and slam poetry are sure to be big hits due to their popularity on stage and on cable TV. In the voice class students will explore styles and techniques for solo and group performance. Playwrights will find a class devoted to creating and polishing their works.

“Classes will be held in the rehearsal rooms and sometimes in the theater itself.” stated Francie Riley, administrator of the educational program. “By late Spring, we hope to present an evening or weekend of student works. Of course we will continue our theater season, and have expanded that to include many special events and a discussion series. This next season is going to be very exciting.”

The New York Times has called The Schoolhouse Theater “Westchester’s sole claim to consistent professional theater” and “the little theater that can!”. Now, The Schoolhouse is developing it’s own program that will offer consistent professional theater classes taught by successful theater professionals to students who can become actors who can.
