Trying to find a local businesses information using an Internet search engine is like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

As the Internet’s popularity continues to increase and the awareness that the need for businesses to establish a solid "presence" on the Internet is growing stronger on a daily basis, Around The Island.com has recognized the need to develop an online "community" where local residents
can find local businesses quickly and easily, among other local information. We have designed, developed and implemented an online web portal with a database directory focused mainly on local listings.

For businesses, it is not necessary to have a website to list your business with Around The Island.com, but we feel if you don’t have a website you should invest in developing one.

But in budgeting to develop a website, it is important for businesses to understand that just creating a website isn’t the entire battle. "If you were somebody who built a Web site and nobody knows it's there, you've wasted your money", said Tijerina. Businesses need to
advertise that they have a website. Getting a website recognized by customers and or potential customers is something that requires some creative marketing.

Again, if you do not have a website, you may still list your company with Around The Island.com.

Membership might include what we feel to be all the required information in one area for online visitors searching for a specific business - address, telephone, fax, directions and business description with up to 1500 characters among other information. All of this can be edited at the discretion of the customer via a user ID and password in the member area. The ability to use advertising banners on different sizes is also available for some memberships, as well as the banner design.

Due to visitor’s request, Around The Island.com has implemented many other sections in order to satisfy as well the need for a complete online community. Discussion Boards and Free Classifieds sections are just some examples.
