CRESTVIEW HILLS CITIZENS
GO BEHIND BARS FOR “GOOD”!

CINCINNATI, Ohio, July 18, 2006 – The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) has issued arrest warrants for many Crestview Hills citizens. As members of the area’s “Most Wanted”, these jailbirds are going to be “Locked Up” to benefit the MDA. They have all been charged with having a big heart and are heavily armed with kindness! Their sentence is to serve time at MDA’s maximum appreciation jail site on July 26 at Mike & Jimmy’s Chop House, 2809 Dixie Highway in Crestview Hills.

This year’s jailbirds’ are each encouraged to raise $800 in bail to be released for good behavior. This bail amount will send at least ONE LOCAL CHILD to MDA’s Summer Camp for youngsters who have neuromuscular diseases. MDA’s kids look forward to Summer Camp year after year. They focus on horseback riding, swimming, singing campfire songs and just having a great time! MDA is providing jailbirds the opportunity to create their own web page to help them raise their bail. By contacting Meg Koehl at mkoehl@mdausa.org, jailbirds can learn how to customize their page with a photo and e-mail the link to friends, family and co-workers who will be able to make a secure donation on-line.

This is a first-time Lock-Up for Crestview Hills. The Lock-Up will include MDA’s version of gourmet bread and water, provided by Mike & Jimmy’s Chop House. Upon arrival, bail raisers will be “booked”, processed and receive VIP treatment such as manicures, massages, make-up touchups, shoe shines and more. Incentives include key chains, t-shirts and plaques.
Proceeds from the Lock Up will not only benefit MDA’s Summer Camp, but also assist more than 1,000 families in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. MDA provides assistance in the purchases of wheelchairs, leg braces and communication devices for patients and offers five support groups. MDA’s Summer Camp is an exciting week at Camp Campbell Gard in Hamilton, OH for children ages 6-21 living with any one of 43 neuromuscular diseases. MDA also funds two weekly clinics – one at University Hospital and one at Children’s Hospital.

MDA (www.mda.org) is a non-profit organization not funded by United Way or the Federal Government and is the number one provider of neuromuscular research. This voluntary health agency works to defeat more than 40 neuromuscular diseases through programs of worldwide research, comprehensive services, and far-reaching professional and public health education. The largest fundraiser for MDA is the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon, which will be featured locally on WB-WSTR Channel 64 on September 4th from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m.
