Model & Social Entrepreneur, Melissa Michaels Nominated Woman of the Year

Melissa Michaels, model and social entrepreneur is a San Diego Magazine's 2006 Woman of the Year nominee. This statuesque, stunningly beautiful multi-talented artist and business woman is an accomplished author, model, dancer, poet, actor, singer and jewelry designer has captured the attention of the masses with her extraordinary talent, business savvy and endless community involvement. The Women Who Move the City award's ceremony was held on Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at the San Diego Museum of Art from 6:00PM-9:00PM.

Ms. Michaels is an activist. Her community and humanitarian involvement include supporting BookPALS (Performing Artists for Literacy in Schools), one of the fastest growing literacy programs in the country, is an all-volunteer program operating under the auspices of the Screen Actors Guild Foundation, the charitable, educational and humanitarian arm of the Screen Actors Guild. "I believe art can change lives. If these kids fall in love with reading then they can begin to start imagining and learning to develop their talents. Kids who are involved in the arts are less likely to engage in risky behavior primarily because they have avenues to express themselves," stated Melissa Michaels. She also serves on the board of San Diego Center for Children. Additionally, she is an advocate for
Make-A-Wish Foundation and www.One.org. Partial proceeds will go to these organizations.

Ms. Michaels received honorable mention on The Wall of Tolerance. She won the 2004 DIY Book Festival award for poetry.

Ms.Michaels has been romantically linked to legendary record producer, George Tobin. Ms. Michaels resides in San Diego, California.
