Flat Rock Music Festival Now Accepting Applications For 11th Annual Songwriter Contest and Showcase

Applications are now being accepted for the 11th Annual Songwriter Contest and Showcase as part of the Flatrock Music Festival scheduled for September 29 through October 1, 2006. The contest is open to any songwriter who writes and performs original music and who is not currently signed to a major recording or publishing deal.
Each year the Flat Rock Music Festival staff, along with local, music industry professionals, select ten songwriter finalists to perform live at the festival. The entry fee is $20 per song, and contestants can enter as many songs as they want. All entries must be postmarked by September 1st, 2006. A panel of industry professionals judges all ten finalists during the festival and a winner is chosen that weekend.
The Flat Rock Music Festival is an annual gathering of local and regional musicians. The three-day event is held at Camp Ton-A-Wandah in Flat Rock, NC. This year over 30 acts will be performing, including Kevin Kinney’s Sun Tangled Angel Revival, Tater, Darlyne Cain, Tyler Ramsey, Chris Rosser, Malcolm Holcombe, Gove Scrivenor, Jimmy Landry, Rock Killough, Michael Reno Harrell, Laura Blackley, Marc Yaxley, David Via and Corn Tornado, Delta Reign, Downhome Groove, The Smokey Joe Show and many more.
Day and Weekend passes are available, and include hiking, swimming and boating. Camping is included in the weekend pass. This family event also includes activities for kids including crafts, face painting, a kids parade, open mic and storytelling. Childcare is also provided for $3 per hour.
