Mayaro Becomes First Caribbean Fishing Village with its own Website

A small fishing village on the Caribbean island of Trinidad has found a way to combat being ignored by the mainstream media because it is supposedly too small.

Mayaro now has www.mayaro.com and its members are using it to communicate amongst themselves as well as to get news and announcements relevant to the community.

The mass media typically inform about what's happening in bigger cities while small villages get ignored. Mayaro.com already has over 170 members who will be ignored no more.

The people use www.mayaro.com as both a message board or blog and a news source.
