“We are so lucky to have Mary Tatem’s talent and inspiration at WinterFest” states Debra Wiggins Co-Chairperson of Locust Quilt and Craft. “We are thrilled to celebrate our 5th year by presenting this outstanding author whose books should inspire, captivate, and enchant." With its inspiring words and energetic images, Mary’s books take its readers on a voyage of discovery and growth that leads to the ultimate gift-a validation of the strength and beauty each of us possess. A member of the Advanced Writers Association, Mary has authored 5 published books; The Quilt of Hope, The Quilt of Life, and Beautiful Threads all contain stories with quilts. Mary’s other books include; The Scrapbook Of Life: A Montage of Devotional Thoughts and Just Call Me Mom: Practical Guide To Becoming A Better Mother In Law.

Mary Tatem was born and raised in Indiana and graduated from Duke University with a degree in English. She has been married to her college sweetheart, Roger for forty-nine years. They have four grown children and fifteen grandchildren.

Mary especially enjoys meetings God’s wonderful people during speaking opportunities. Active in her church, she is a mentor mom for MOPS (Mothers for preschoolers). She and her husband do some pre-marriage counseling and host a Bible study in their home.

Mary has a ministry of encouragement, acknowledging that God’s themes of hope, love, and acceptance are close to her heart. A quilter or more than 20 years, Mary has nearly completed a special quilt of her grandchildren. She sees the parallels to the quilting process to God piecing our lives into beautiful patterns.
