August 07, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
Fire fighters will begin Filling-the-Boot two hours before game time in front of the Metrodome’s ballpark gates. Fire fighters along with MDA families will take part in pre-game festivities as well as be honored by throwing out the first pitch. All money collected during the day will be donated to MDA to support its services and research programs as well as educate the community on over 40 neuromuscular diseases MDA currently fights.

“MDA Day at the ballpark shows the fantastic support MDA gets from local fire fighters, organizations such as the Minnesota Twins, and good hearted community members. We are lucky to be associated with such terrific people,” MDA Regional Director Trendy Stanchfield said.

MDA Day at the ballpark is part of MDA’s neuromuscular disease awareness campaign leading up to the Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon, September 3 and 4.

MDA (www.mda.org) is the number one provider of neuromuscular research and relies almost entirely on private donations. MDA receives no funding from the United Way or the Federal Government. This voluntary health agency works to defeat more than 40 neuromuscular diseases through programs of worldwide research, comprehensive services, and far-reaching professional and public health education. The largest fund-raiser for MDA is the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon, September 3 – 4, check your local listing.
