The Changing Marketplace – Consumers and Internet

August 04, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
The internet is a global network that connects millions of computers and enables the exchange of information. The recent innovations in technology have caused a surge in transmission speeds and opens up new forms of media for exchange over the internet. This has caused economic and social repercussions in all industries whether they conduct their business online or offline.

The world is shrinking. The physical and internet connectivity between the countries and cities has resulted in a shrinking marketplace. Today’s customers have also responded to the change. Now, they “channel surf” with abandon. They routinely avail themselves of the services of high touch channels, only to buy the product at the end point of another, cheaper channel. Among us, who hasn’t leafed through a catalog before hitting the malls, or called a travel agent for airfare advice and then either bought the tickets on-line or purchased them directly from the airline to get a better price? The common aspects of them all are that they would have used the internet to gather the information they need somehow or another.

Customers today are getting increasingly mobile with their purchases, as they are no longer limited by geographic reach and information deprivation. They purchase products overseas and get them couriered to their doorstep, they compare prices and search for product reviews before making decisions, they look for customers comments and take your product apart examining them by the component.

The theory is simple; the customers will not examine what they cannot find.

So while all your potential customers are out there on the internet searching for their products and services online, are you missing something? How do you get yourself seen and heard by them on the internet? How do you make your products avail to them? We can help you make yourself seen and heard. Contact us today to find out how!
