San Diego, CA –- Sarah Sengendo, an immigrant from Uganda, and President of M&S Boutique will join The African American Council of San Diego Repertory Theatre on February 27 through February 29, 2004 to celebrate Black History month. Ms Sengendo will discuss the link between Black history month and African fashion and culture.

In celebration of this year's Black History month, Ms Sengendo acknowledges that African ancestors in America pushed for the understanding of the total African experience. "Today, African-Americans and new immigrants from Africa celebrate this experience with creativity and culture that is seen in African fashionable embroidered clothing, paintings, artifacts, jewelry, music and videos,' explains Ms Sengendo.

Employees of M&S Boutique will showcase the latest fashion from Africa that they believe anyone, be African American or any other ethnic group from around the world, can wear to celebrate Black History month. One of M&S Boutique's customers, Ms Yannick Beauville, agrees: "Sarah, your boutique caries indigenous designs with a modern twist; and the collection of your fashion and art represent Africa and its diasporas. The collection brightens our celebration, and I am very much in love with the art work of Betty Sally because of her ingenuity and the will to support herself through art.' Betty is a famous 8-year old artist and an orphan from Uganda.

M&S Boutique does not only carry work of art, clothing for all ages, but the store carries handmade jewelry, latest CDs and DVDs of top African artists living in Africa and other parts the world.
