Premier Website for Historic Real Estate Puts Prime Properties on the Map

Richmond, VA— For history buffs, investors, romanticists, and do-it-yourself home renovators, finding a historic dream home just became easier.

With the addition of a new mapping feature, online visitors to HistoricProperties.com—the premier website for buying and selling historic properties more than 50 years old—can now view local and regional maps to give a better perspective of where each historic property is located.

HistoricProperties.com has teamed up with Multimap, a leading worldwide provider of mapping and location-based services, to provide the additional website feature.

According to Marjorie Ellena, co-owner and founder of HistoricProperties.com, the feature is in response to many requests from the tens of thousands of weekly visitors the site receives.

“While visitors have been fascinated by the interior and exterior photographs and in-depth descriptions of the historic homes listed on the HistoricProperties.com site, they have not had the ability to view the local and regional locations of the homes,” notes Ellena, who, together with co-founder Sharon Hinson, started the successful business eight years ago. “This feature will provide historic home buyers and enthusiasts a time-saving advantage and make the properties more approachable.”

HistoricProperties.com features residential, commercial, and multi-use properties in a wide variety of architectural styles and prices. Many are distinguished landmarks, such as one of this month’s featured properties, the Mendon Academy, a circa 1835 cobblestone mansion which served as a school for 111 years. Being transformed into a firehouse in 1950, the mansion hosted an annual country festival, a town highlight which featured top named country artists such as Hank Snow. Most recently the property has transformed into a private residence and art gallery.
