NEW YORK…As the 36th Annual Hal Jackson's Talented Teens International Scholarship Program took place, last year's winner Esonica Viera was about to have another dream come true. Her year as the reigning talented teen had been like a fantasy come to life but as she was ready to hand over her crown to this year's winner, another dream was about to become a reality. She was going to meet her favorite TV personality—Mad Linx, host of the popular BET show "Rap City." The two had a meet-and-greet at the events after party at the Roosevelt Hotel on July 28.

The after party was hosted by famed journalist Cynthia Horner, longtime editor of Right On! magazine. Ms. Horner, who is now with Word Up magazine, is also a board member for the annual event. "I've heard about Hal Jackson's Talented Teens nearly all my life, so when I was asked to come meet the winner from last year I was honored," says Mad Linx, a native of Queens, New York. "The program offers much-needed scholarships to teens that might otherwise go unnoticed. And I wanted to wish Esonica Viera all the best in her bright future."
