PHILADELPHIA, PA, August 10, 2006 –-America Hears (www.americahears.com), the premier vendor and manufacturer of digital hearing aids, today announced the introduction of its FreedomAD line of hearing aids featuring the top-of-the-line 32 channel ADRO® (adaptive dynamic range optimization) technology. Scientific studies have shown that hearing aid users prefer ADRO over compression 74 percent of the time.

FreedomAD hearing aids deliver a multiple-channel noise suppression module and an adaptive feedback canceller module. Additionally, these aids utilize a state-of-the-art adaptive directional microphone that is not only power efficient but can adapt into and out of an omnidirectional mode while optimizing the polar pattern for the listener. And FreedomAD hearing aids also employ patented ultra low delay digital sound processing.

The FreedomAD OF, one of the new products in this line, is an open fit style instrument that sits behind the ear and uses thin acoustic tubing. This hearing aid delivers an ultra-small, lightweight design that is practically invisible with no occlusion. Other products include a full line of behind-the-ear and custom-fit in-ear aids.

“Our new FreedomAD hearing aids represent an exciting new direction for America Hears,” said Henry Smith, president of America Hears. “We are constantly striving to offer the latest and best hearing aid technology to our customers at a reasonable price, all while continuing to deliver exceptional customer service and support. Right now, we feel that no other hearing aids on the market can deliver the quality of hearing and the ease of adjustment that we can provide with the FreedomAD line.”

The America Hears FreedomAD product line incorporates ADRO, the world’s first wide dynamic range optimizer, which was developed by Australian technology firm Dynamic Hearing and refined in partnership with America Hears. With this technology, there are no compression thresholds, ratios, or attach and release times to adjust. In addition, gain levels are altered only when appropriate, and the hearing aid implements fuzzy logic rules to continuously optimize its output. These advancements provide comfort as well as improved speech perception in all listening environments for the user of the hearing aid.
