Pasadena, CA, August 10, 2006 (Open Release) – As with most conflicts where violence invades populated areas, children are often the innocent casualties of war. The war on terror in the Middle East is no different. Soldiers’ Angels, an organization of over 60,000 volunteers who are dedicated to the support of deployed and wounded soldiers and their families, has seen an increase in the requests they have received from deployed soldiers as well as from entire units for items to help the children who have lost their families, their belongings and those who need medical attention.

Some of our military units located in the war torn areas have outreach programs where they provide “Humanitarian Aid” in the areas around them, but they are limited on the supplies that they have to provide to the civilian population and must rely on donations from non-government organizations such as Soldiers’ Angels. As result of these outreach programs, some of these military units are involved with helping the children in local orphanages with clothing, school supplies, toys, snacks and candy, as well as basic first aid needs. Other troops see the children in need as they are on patrol and cannot turn away without helping them.

Because of the numerous requests for help with items for the children that our men & women in uniform have sent in to Soldiers’ Angels, a special team called SOS:KIDS was developed. This team is asking caring Americans to visit the Soldiers’ Angels website at www.soldiersangels.org and click on SOS:KIDS for a list of needed items or how you can help with a cash donation that will be used to help fulfill some of these requests.
