FAIRFIELD FIREFIGHTER ASSOCIATION TO “FILL THE BOOT” FOR MDA

August 10, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
CINCINNATI, Ohio, August 10, 2006 — Members of the Fairfield Firefighter Association will be working the streets to fill their fire boots with donations to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). Firefighters will collect donations from passing pedestrians and motorists at a specific intersection on August 12, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

As MDA’s national sponsor for 52 years, firefighters will collect donations from passing consumers at the intersection of South Gilmore Drive and Kolb Drive in front of Cincinnati Mills in Fairfield. Participating in the “Fill the Boot” campaign is an annual event for the Fairfield Local 4010, a member of the International Association of Firefighters. Last year, the firefighters collected more than $13,500. This year the firefighters hope to raise even more.

Funds raised by the firefighters give MDA, a voluntary health agency, the means to continue providing direct services, research and professional and public health education to
children and adults with neuromuscular diseases in the Greater Cincinnati Area.

Free medical services are available at MDA’s clinics at the Aring Center for Neurology at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and Children’s Medical Center for individuals diagnosed with any one of the 43 neuromuscular diseases covered by MDA. In addition, MDA is able to provide a summer camp tailored to the needs of children, from age 6 to 21, with muscular dystrophy.
