OVIEDO, FL (August 11, 2006) - With the ever-growing competition to hire and retain qualified talent, General Growth Properties, one of the country's largest mall owners and developers, has instituted a corporate-wide initiative committed to creating a source of human capital. Since the inception of GGP Prodigies in 2001, college students throughout the nation have received hands-on experience in the shopping center business world while creating a talent pool for the company.

“In order to continue creating value to our C.O.R.E. - customers, owners, retailers and employees - GGP Prodigies provides the company with new talent while minimizing recruiting costs,” said John Bucksbaum, CEO, General Growth Properties. “Through this internship program, GGP has gained a leading edge over the competition in attracting and retaining employees and will continue to be a leader in the shopping center industry.”

Students enrolled in the program may be eligible to receive college credit while gaining valuable skills in a variety of areas within the industry including management, marketing, public relations, leasing, construction/development, finance, accounting, technology and many more. Prodigies work under the guidance of business professionals and mentors who are responsible for the day-to-day business operations involved with managing shopping centers throughout the nation. Students also assist in planning and strategizing long-term business goals for the centers.

General Growth Properties is currently seeking interns for the marketing department at the Oviedo Marketplace in Oviedo, Florida for the fall semester. This is an unpaid internship, but the benefits are priceless. During the fall semester, interns who work in the marketing department will gain an integrated experience in marketing, advertising, public relations and event planning. Job duties include:

• Coordinate mall-wide special events, seasonal programs and promotions including grand opening celebrations and holiday programs

• Assist in overall management responsibilities for the shopping center by working with leasing, finance, and operations departments
