QWIKSAND Makes NBC StarTomorrow Top100

At NBC Studios located in Los Angeles and New York, over 10,000 new bands and independent artists traveled from across the country in July to audition for the new NBC live music series StarTomorrow. The Top 100 finalists that were selected will now compete over the next 14 weeks with both original songs and select covers for the final grand prize of a major label record deal with Warner Brothers. The show will be judged by Grammy awarding producer Dave Foster, but America will ultimately decide who continues on to become StarTomorrow by voting on new performances featured online each week @ NBC.com/StarTomorrow

QWIKSAND, a Top 100 finalist from southern California that premiers Monday August 14 @ 8pm(PST) on NBC.com hopes StarTomorrow will open more doors for new independent artists and original songwriters. When guitarist Ras, wrote Concrete Cowboy about draining and skating a backyard pool while his neighbor was on vacation, little did the band know that in less than 2 years, QWIKSAND would be performing across the western region with hundreds of radio stations now behind them. Their unique and original sound described as Southern Cali Surf Funk has continued to grow in popularity earning QWIKSAND the love, support and respect of fans across the US while gathering solid reviews, television appearances, upcoming movie soundtracks and light to heavy airplay in over 150 cities throughout the US, Canada and UK. The band was originally formed in 2003 and was named QWIKSAND to honor those who have drowned surfing a dangerous wave called the Wedge in Newport Beach California.

QWIKSAND was also chosen one of the best independent artists in the Country for 2006 by the Independent Artist Registry as their debut single Concrete Cowboy from the independent album release titled: THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE GROOVE jumped nationwide into Mainstream Commercial US Radio Charts hitting # 11 on Hot AC Top 40, # 3 on Top 30 Indie, # 55 on the Top 100 and # 8 on the Up & Coming Top 40. After 8 straight weeks in the Top 10, QWIKSAND also hit # 2 on Pulse Radio in the United Kingdom while reaching Top 9 on KGUR Radio in California, Top 23 on KMUD Radio in California, Top 10 on KAFM Radio in Colorado, Top 28 on KOTO Radio in Colorado, Top 19 on WMHB Radio in Maine, and with a brand new Music Video for Concrete Cowboy currently premiering to over 12 million viewers worldwide on the Yahoo!
