Mountain madness. Guaranteeing good weather in Scotland!

August 15, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Travel News
Proprietors of a self-catering cottage near Glencoe have hit upon a novel idea to promote business to walkers. They offer a guarantee of fine weather for any break from November 1st. That seems madness until you know how it works.

Visitors to Bayview lochside cottage at Kentallen are surrounded with high mountains that many people love to climb. For that you need good weather so Gillian and John Winkler offer not to bank anyone’s cheque until the first day of an autumn break. No deposits are asked for, and if the weather forecast turns out too bad then no cancellation fee will be charged.

The cost of a break which can run from any day up to 7days is £195 for 4 people. Plenty of good advice is offered on their web site for non-expert winter walkers ranging from equipment and clothing, to high level navigation tips, including wind and weather, and safety in the mountains. Within the area there are no less than 22 Munros, over 3,000 feet, some of the most exhilarating and thrilling mountain country in Europe
