HOUSTON - Prudential Gary Greene, Realtors has named 2005 top producer and listing leader Kelly Kelley as co-manager for the company's three real estate offices on Galveston Island.

Kelley joins manager Gary Greene in managing the company's expanding Galveston operations, including offices on Tiki Island, Jamaica Beach and Pirate's Beach, and a sales force of 38 agents.

Prior to becoming a Realtor in 2003, Kelley's background included experience in nursing and accounting. "One teaches you to listen with compassion, and the other forces you to be a stickler for details," said Kelley. "It turns out to be excellent training for a career in real estate."

"The accomplishments Kelly has achieved in real estate industry and in other fields make her a natural for this position," said Marilyn Eiland, partner, Prudential Gary Greene, Realtors. "We are pleased to have someone of her professional expertise on our management team."

Kelley is optimistic about Galveston's real estate market. "From condos to luxury homes, the demand for residential properties continues to grow," said Kelley.

In addition to an influx of baby-boomers in their mid to late fifties looking for second home or retirement properties, she's seeing younger couples with children investing in Galveston. "They are choosing to put their money in real estate instead of the stock market. It's an investment that they can enjoy while it appreciates in value."

As always, waterfront property is in high demand. "Homes on beaches, canals and bay areas continue to be most popular," she said. While the inventory of homes in the $300,000-600,000 range is up, Kelley notes the variety and value of these properties is generating a lot of interest and increased traffic for the company.

"People don't have to buy vacation homes or investment properties with the same urgency as their primary residence," she said. "They tend to require more assistance to make sure everything is the way they want it."

Like Kelley, a growing number of her clients are becoming fulltime residents of the island community. "Galveston is becoming a very cosmopolitan area," she said. "For many of us, there's no reason to leave."

Prudential Gary Greene, Realtors serves the Galveston market with three offices: the Tiki Island location at 300 Tiki Drive; the Jamaica Beach office at 16692 San Luis Pass Road and on Pirates Beach at 13450 FM 3005. All offices can be accessed through www.GaryGreene.com.
