The United States Federation for Middle East Peace (USFMEP) condemned in the strongest possible terms the killing of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri. He was killed along with several people on Monday in a massive explosion that rocked central Beirut. Hariri had been the leading figure in Lebanon’s reconstruction in the aftermath of that country’s long and devastating civil war.

USFMEP President, Salwa Kader, offers her deepest condolences and sympathy to his wife, family, Lebanese people and the Arab world, for the loss of great father and leader. The USFMEP members in USA and all over the world share their sorrow and grief at this ruthless and cruel crime.

This brutal and unforgivable action deserves prompt action by the Lebanese Government in order to bring the responsible criminals to justice.

The evolution of the Lebanese people towards a democratic government will succeed despite of this tragic accident.
