NEW HAVEN, August 18, 2006 — In cooperation with WTIC Fox-61, The ERA Connecticut Broker Council, made up of ERA brokers across the state, is sponsoring a corporate starboard on the Connecticut broadcast of the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s 41st Annual Jerry Lewis/MDA Labor Day Telethon.
The ERA Starboard raises money for MDA in the months leading up to the annual Telethon, a 21 ½-hour entertainment extravaganza that raised a record $54.9 million nationwide in 2005. Since June, ERA brokers and agents have been selling gold and silver stars to the individuals and companies they work with. In return for purchasing a silver star for $250 or a gold star for $500, supporters’ names are recognized on the ERA Starboard during the live local Telethon broadcast from Mohegan Sun.
A national sponsor of MDA, ERA Real Estate has raised over $30 million for MDA in their 29-year relationship. This money has helped MDA continue to fund research, education and health care services that serve more than a million Americans affected by any of the 43 neuromuscular diseases in MDA’s program.
Last year, the ERA Starboard raised over $46,000 for MDA. ERA Innovative Realty was a standout performer in last year’s fundraiser, bringing in about $28,000 of the total amount. For 2006, the ERA Starboard hopes to raise $50,000.
Companies and individuals can also be featured on the ERA Starboard by purchasing tables at the 2nd Annual ERA Innovative Evening of Exotic Tastes, a wine-tasting and auction event that will be held on September 14, 2006 at The Belvedere in New Haven.
