FOOD BYPRODUCT RECYCLING COMPANY, ENVIRONMENTAL LAND MANAGEMENT, EARNS HORMEL“SPIRIT OF EXCELLENCE” QUALITY AWARD FOR THE THIRD YEAR IN A ROW
Boulder-Based Company the First Environmental Company to Receive Honor

BOULDER, COLO, AUGUST 2006… Environmental Land Management(www.landspread.com), a leader in food byproduct recycling, is proud to announce that it has received the “Spirit of Excellence” quality award from one of its clients, Hormel Foods. Each year, Hormel recognizes its top national suppliers for providing quality service and/or products to the multinational marketer of consumer-branded meat and food products. Suppliers were required to meet or exceed specific requirements established by the corporation’s supplier quality management (SQM) committee to qualify for this recognition. This year, for the third consecutive time, it recognizes an environmental contractor, Environmental Land Management (ELM).
ELM, based in Boulder, Colorado, is a nation-wide, waste byproduct land spreading service. The company is hired by food companies, such as Hormel, as well as others who generate organic byproduct. ELM removes and transports the byproduct from the production plant, tests and analyzes it, converts it into usable fertilizer supplement, and distributes the fertilizer on a complementary basis to regional farmers. This recycled material is rich in nutrients and saves farmers approximately $30/acre in fertilizer costs.
“We’re happy to be honored by Hormel this year, and particularly proud to be the first environmental company to be honored in the 15 year history of the awards,” stated Ray DeLong, founder and president of Environmental Land Management. “It is a very positive trend that mainstream companies, such as Hormel, see the importance of recycling food byproducts to the benefit of U.S. farmers.”
