Chaamp Will Revolutionize the Way Sports Fans Surf the Web

The new social-sports website, Chaamp (www.chaamp.com), is ready to change the way sports fans spend their time online. The site combines some of the latest web trends, including social-bookmarking and social-networking, to provide sports fans with a “one-stop shop” for sports news and discussion.

Similar to other social-news sites, all of the stories on Chaamp are submitted by the users. Users have the ability to “score points” for stories, and the stories with the most points — which have been judged to be the most popular amongst the users — become the most visible. The site also lets users create “teams” of other fans whose activity they can track, and provides a forum that enables users to discuss the headlines. Additionally, Chaamp keeps track of fans’ usage statistics to present a “leader board” of the top users.

Chaamp’s founder, Connor Kyle, developed the site to fill the void in the social-news and sports landscapes. “Social news websites are enormously popular right now, but none of them are catering to sports fans,” observes Kyle. “General news and technology news seem to be well covered in the social-news realm, but we want to be the first to exclusively focus on sports. At the same time there are many popular traditional sports news sites, but none of them give their users complete control over submitting and selecting the content. Our goal is to make Chaamp the place where sports fans start their browsing every day.”

Chaamp is still under active development, and many new features will be rolled out as the community continues to grow. Future plans include weekly, monthly, and yearly “Chaamp Awards” for the most active users and stories, recommended stories based on voting habits, and a weekly audio podcast.
