MANCHESTER, August 23, 2006 — The Manchester Fire Department, IAFF Local 1579, will once again sponsor a charity golf tournament to benefit the local office of the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
On Wednesday, August 23, 2006, golfers will compete in the charity tournament. The event will be held at Manchester Country Club, 305 S. Main Street in Manchester. Registration for golfers will begin at 11:30 a.m., with lunch at noon and shotgun start at 1 p.m. Following the tournament, around 6 p.m., will be a dinner for participating golfers.
2006 will be the 22nd year the Manchester firefighters have held this annual tournament. Last year, the tournament raised about $5,000 for the local office of MDA. Money raised in the golf tournament enables MDA to continue to fund support groups, research programs, and healthcare services for those affected by neuromuscular disease in the Manchester area.
The entry fee for the 2006 Manchester Firefighters’ charity golf tournament is $125 per person. There is still room for additional golfers. To reserve a space or find out more about the tournament, contact Mike Suhie of the Manchester Fire Department at (860) 798-9612.
The Muscular Dystrophy Association is a voluntary health agency working to defeat more than 40 neuromuscular diseases through programs of worldwide research, comprehensive services, and far-reaching professional and public health education. In the Hartford area, MDA maintains a clinic offering diagnostic and follow-up services through the CT Children’s Medical Center.
