Where can the central Indiana community mingle with the candidates who are up for election, become an educated voter by learning about important issues that affect us all, network and enjoy good food? At the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce’s 6th Annual “HobNob: Meet the Candidates,” Sept. 13, from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Indiana History Center (450 West Ohio Street).

Presented by Clarian Health Partners and Monarch Beverages, with media partners WISH-TV, WIBC AM 1070, Inside Indiana Business and Univision, this non-partisan, political event will feature the candidates running for local, state and congressional offices. This year attendees also will witness a live discussion between Marion County prosecutor candidates Carl Brizzi and Melina Kennedy, moderated by WISH-TV’s political reporter, Jim Shella.

We're still calling it "HobNob," just like the old days.

If mingling and good food aren’t enticing enough, here are 10 more reasons to attend HobNob:

10. Carpool with a candidate, ride the bus or take the people mover.
9. Embroil someone in a property tax debate.
8. Raise a stink about the sewers.
7. Rub elbows with key political leaders and find out what makes them tick.
6. Overhear candidates discussing the issues in the “Press Shack”.
5. Share a paddleboat with potential customers.
4. Enter another time zone (historically speaking).
3. Hob-Nob <verb> to be friendly with someone who is important or famous.
2. Hot dogs, popcorn and beverages. Oh my!
1. Be a more informed voter.

The event is open to the public for a $10 fee, which includes food and drinks. Attendees can register in advance at www.indychamber.com or by emailing hobnob@indylink.com. Tickets also can be purchased at the door the day of the event.
