Worcester, Massachusetts, August 2006: DZian Gallery announces they will host the opening reception of Varoujan's Symphony of Colors, Saturday, September 16, from 5 – 9 pm an art show, featuring 40 paintings, running from September 3 through October 15, 2006. Daniel Varoujan Hejinian is an internationally renowned artist, born in the Soviet Union, now living and working in Boston, Massachusetts.

Located in the historic Water Street district of Worcester, the DZian Gallery displays 130 original works by over 50 regional, national and international artists. There is an eclectic mix of medium and subjects: watercolors, paints, and oils used to create portraits, landscapes, still lifes, contemporary and abstracts. Besides artwork, the DZian Gallery offers clay and ceramic pottery, stainless steel and fabric purses, custom handcrafted jewelry, and silk hand-painted scarves - the handiwork of artisans hailing from across the globe.

DZian Gallery owners, Gina and David Papazian are both natives of Worcester and avid art lovers, owning over 215 pieces of art, the majority of which they have collected since 2001. Gina is a kindergarten teacher in the Worcester School System and David is the present owner of Bay State Hardware, which sits on the same premises as his grandparent’s fruit stand, opened circa 1925. “For 14 years, we spent our weekends touring galleries, museums and artisan shops,” says Gina. “David always had, in the back of his mind, the idea to open a special boutique or gallery like those of Portsmouth or Rockport.” “I knew the time was right in January,” David chimes in, “and we knew that that only place for our gallery would be our home town of Worcester. In March, we found the space, started renovations, and within two months, our gallery was ready.”

DZian Gallery, opened since May 2006 is less than four months old and already has acquired staying power. Visitors are “wowed” by the collection. The DZian guest book comments and personal notes from buyers thank the Papazians for “bringing this art to us.” At the monthly jazz nights, artist receptions, or private parties you may overhear the words “Manhattan” and “SOHO” in reference to the feel, look and collection of the gallery. The Papazians are glad that they are able to bring this fine art resource to Worcester residents and to Massachusetts visitors.

On Saturday, September 16, from 5 – 9 pm, DZian Gallery will feature Varoujan's Symphony of Colors. On opening night, starting with a blank canvas and accompanied by the sounds of classical music, Varoujan will paint a new creation, immediately available for purchase. The reception, hors d’oeuvres, and valet parking are free; a cash bar is available. The public is welcomed.
