GREEN GIFT STORE WITH ENVIRONMENTAL CONSCIOUS TO OPEN IN SOUTH MINNEAPOLIS

A consumer driven demand for products that are green, world wide eco-awareness, the depletion and abuse of our natural resources, and the personal mission of Tina North to recycle – all reasons why Re Gifts gift store celebrates its grand opening on Tuesday, September 12th. Re Gifts’ mission is to support and advance the recycling movement and the idea of “living green” by providing an environmentally friendly gift store that features unique, fun, and trend-forward items crafted in the USA: organic in nature or artistically created out of materials that are reclaimed, salvaged, or recycled.

Re Gifts will be the first store of its kind in the Twin Cities and surrounding area to exclusively carry recycled and organic gift items like soy and beeswax candles, recycled glassware, reclaimed metal sculpture, recycled paper cards and stationary, wastebaskets made from old car tires, wallets made from tire tubes, purses made from second hand jeans, clocks made from bicycle parts, along with organic bath and body products.

Re Gifts’ green mission goes beyond the items on their shelves. Almost everything else you see in the store: the display units, the cash register, the open sign were re-claimed or purchased second hand. The gift bags, toilet paper, cleaning supplies, light bulbs and more were chosen because of their minimum impact on our environment.

Re Gifts is family owned and operated by Tina and Ryan North, local actors who met eight years ago while performing together in Tony ‘n Tina’s Wedding. Tina has been an avid recycler for years. When those around her would throw their aluminum can in the trash, she would be there to bring it home and place it in the appropriate bin.

“Tina’s personal passion for the environment is contagious” says her husband and business partner. “When we first met I raised a skeptical eyebrow at her efforts to save the world. Now, I’m right next to her, opening a green gift store, and proving that one person (or two) can begin to make a difference by making small changes for the better – like how and where you buy your gifts.”
