Top Newscasters Change Channels: Today Show Host to CBS, Tap Dancing Newscaster to Odeo.com

Two renowned newscasters are moving to new outlets–former Today host Katie Couric, to anchor the CBS evening news, and tap dancing podcaster Sondra Lowell, to host her hoofing at Odeo.com on the World Wide Web.

“Katie deserves all the press she is getting,” acknowledged Sondra, “although her network is only seen coast to coast, while the Internet reaches anyone anywhere with access to a computer. So I don't really understand why my retouched publicity photo was not received with the same widespread shock as hers.”

A visitor pointed out that much of the to-do is due to Couric's replacing longtime anchor Dan Rather, who was removed from his job for a journalistic gaffe (or for delivering news the White House disapproved of, depending on who tells the story).

The tap dancer sighed, “It’s true I am not replacing anyone, controversial or not. Times have been hard for tap dancing news ever since Drudge and the bloggers made being first so important, and rhyming takes time. I believe I am the only one left. All the more reason for the media to take notice.

“Of course, Katie will have famous names on her show–Limbaugh, Clinton, Cronkite, Bush–and you can’t argue with celebrity. Unfortunately for tap dancing podcasting, nearly all the famous hoofers have died off. And Shirley Temple has retired. So I must deliver the news alone.”

The visitor speculated that viewers put off by Couric’s glitzy new show may switch off the TV and tune in to Sondra. Answered the tap dancing newscaster, “That’s the hope here at Odeo. In any case, Katie's and my rivalry is good-natured, and I wish her well.”

Besides tap dancing the news, Sondra Lowell also podcasts as the Rumor Reader, for listeners who do not otherwise fine enough celebrity news on the Internet. She links to her podcasts on the blog for her upcoming independent film at WebcamMurder.blogspot.com.
