The Ultimate Home Theater Connection Diagram Gets an Update

September 07, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
Declared by HDbeat.com to be “the ultimate hook-up and explanation guide for a HDTV based home theater,” HomeTheaterNetwork.com’s connection diagram has taught users how to join together a home theater and a home network. A new version of the connection diagram is available with multiple new zones, ranging from a networked kitchen to a private home theater room. Like its predecessor, the new connection diagram still includes all the typical home theater equipment such as a HDTV, speakers, DVD players, and gaming consoles.

The updated connection diagram shows the family room as the center of a home theater network. The family room is where the three main ingredients of a home theater network are located: the receiver, wireless router, and home theater PC (HTPC). Also added to the family room is the recently released HD DVD and Blu-ray players.

Two new zones featured in the updated diagram include the kitchen and laundry room. These two zones show the future of the home theater network, where no room is spared from networked connectivity. Networked refrigerators will allow a person to remotely check the contents of their fridge while a networked washing machine can download instructions on how to wash unique fabrics.

The last new zone featured in HomeTheaterNetwork.com’s connection diagram is the private home theater. A place where someone can watch a movie peacefully, the private home theater includes a front projector and surround sound speakers to create a movie theater-like experience. The private home theater also includes a HTPC that can receive video and music from the HTPC in the family room.

HomeTheaterNetwork.com’s updated connection diagram shows the future of the networked house, with the home theater as the center of the home network.
