Staten Island, NY — This year's Preemie Fashion Jam, a fashion show where all the models were once premature infants, will be held Saturday September 16 at the Staten Island Mall. The event is sponsored by the March of Dimes and raises money for research and treatment to help premature infants and their families. More than 3,000 people are expected to attend, along with celebrities and local media coverage.

Local Staten Island business RoxiesShop.com, specializing in products and gifts for expectant mothers, has donated a very large 5-tier Unisex "Diaper Cake" to be among the event's raffled items. The cake includes a large assortment of items any family expecting a baby would find useful.

"We pack our Diaper Cakes with a big assortment of disposable diapers along with many of the necessities a new baby needs," said Ricardo John, President and CEO of Roxie's Shop, Inc. See descriptions and photos of the novel diaper cake at: http://www.roxiesshop.com/custom.em?pid=69143

In recent years, more than 1 in 8 American babies have been born prematurely. Many are so small they fit into the palm of an adult hand. 30,000 do not survive their first year. The March of Dimes considers the problem to be epidemic. The organization provides research, education, and advocacy to address the situation.

"The Preemie Fashion Jam is always a remarkably inspiring event.
It's wonderful to see so many healthy young people on stage who, as babies, struggled to survive," John said.

RoxiesShop.com also gave $125 to sponsor a star for the March of Dimes. Funds from local businesses help the March of Dimes finance this event and other activities in the community.

Roxie’s Shop has been designing and manufacturing photo albums, baby diaper cakes, and shoulder tote bags for over 15 years. The web site at http://www.roxiesshop.com features a very wide selection of quality and unusual items designed especially for babies, Moms, and their families.
