Univision's Maria Elena Salinas Receives 'Outstanding News Anchor' Award From National Hispanic Media Coalition

MIAMI, FL — María Elena Salinas, co-anchor for the Univision Network's national newscast, Noticiero Univision, has been honored with the National Hispanic Media Coalition's "Outstanding News Anchor Award" for 2004. She was unanimously chosen by the NHMC's board of directors for her exceptional achievements in Spanish-language broadcast journalism.

The prestigious award was presented to Salinas at the NHMC's 7th Annual Impact Awards Gala, which was held in Beverly Hills, California on March 5, 2004

Salinas co-anchors Noticiero Univision since 1987. During her illustrious careeer, she has covered some of the most important news stories of our times, among them U.S. presidential elections, the funeral of Princess Diana in London, Pope John Paul II's historic visit to Cuba, and the war with Iraq. Salinas has received numerous national recognitions, and is one of the most respected and admired Hispanic journalists in the U.S.
