SOFTSCOUT.COM BECOMES THE LARGEST ENTERPRISE SOFTWARE SELECTION SITE ON THE INTERNET

An entirely free service for vendors and customers, the web site derives revenue from advertisers. SoftScout.com has over 550 categories of software for all types of business. Categories vary from web-based timesheet software to industry-specific software such as medical billing and air traffic control software.

“Keeping our service free has allowed us to build the largest and most complete business software directory possible,” said Matt Bidwell, one of SoftScout.com’s co-founders. “SoftScout is growing at a clip of about 3,000 products a year and continues to accelerate.”

Using the site, software vendors register for a free user id and can add as many products as they wish without any cost or obligation. When a new version of the vendor’s product becomes available, vendors can log in and update their information. New product entries are reviewed by SoftScout.com to ensure that it meets the site’s standards for content and quality.

SoftScout was started in 1999 by Adam Fenstermaker and Matt Bidwell after they left a technology consulting firm.

“We came from a software consulting background and were frustrated that there weren’t any resources that let us make an apples-to-apples comparison of software,” added Fenstermaker. “Search engines like Google are a good starting point, but you still have to do a lot of digging to find the information you want. SoftScout.com has all the information you need in a consistent format.”

Founded in 1999, SoftScout is a community managed, business software directory. SoftScout provides a comprehensive list of enterprise software solutions, allowing business professionals to locate, compare, and select the best available solution.
