Santa Barbara, CA — Antioch University Southern California at Santa Barbara is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Elaine Forest as Director of Development.

Ms. Forest, a veteran in the development and major gift arena, will work to secure fundraising as part of an expanding effort to support and strengthen the University’s mission and goals.

Already a Santa Barbara resident prior to joining Antioch University Santa Barbara, Ms. Forest has a long history of dedication within the non-profit, as well as the academia setting. She has previously served as Assistant Director of the Women & Philanthropy Department at UCLA, along with being an active member of the Association for Fundraising Professionals (AFP). She has also played an integral role in raising funds for several local Santa Barbara campaigns as the Major Gifts Officer for Cottage Health Systems.

“Elaine’s commitment to higher education and the non-profit sector will serve well to our students, constituents and community members and further our mission of social justice, academic excellence and educational leadership,” said Dr. LucyAnn Geiselman, President of Antioch University Southern California.

“Her marked achievement in securing new gifts and funds as part of a five-year $100 million capital campaign for Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara is yet another example of how she will serve Antioch University Santa Barbara as a senior level administrator.”

Ms. Forest’s experience working collaboratively with other Planned Giving Directors make her instrumental in educating and informing potential donors on planned giving options, along with generating and soliciting planned gifts. She is also a member of the Planned Giving Roundtable (PGRT) of Santa Barbara, California and holds a degree from University of California Los Angeles, where she graduated with honors.

Ms. Forest adds, “I am thrilled to be a part of Antioch University Santa Barbara. Antioch is an innovative institution that is grounded firmly in their long-standing values of social justice and progressive education. The University has enormous potential for growth, especially within the unique Santa Barbara community and I look forward to working with all the members of the University, as well as the community at large.”
