Gentris Corporation (Gentris), a leading global provider of applied clinical pharmacogenomic services and diagnostic product solutions, today announced the promotion of Karen Nield to VP, Finance and Human Resources. Prior to this promotion Nield held the position of Executive Director, Finance.

As VP, Finance and Human Resources Nield will play a pivotal role in contributing to Gentris’ continued growth. She will lead Gentris in standardizing human resources policies, attracting top talent and strengthening employee benefits. As Executive Director, Finance, Nield was instrumental in the success of Gentris’ most recent round of funding.

“Early on Karen took on VP-level responsibilities for both Finance and Accounting to support Gentris’ CGS and Diagnostics divisions,” commented Gentris President and CEO Michael Murphy. “In addition, Karen has taken on the task of heading up Human Resources where she has done an incredible job. We expect the best of those who work at Gentris and Karen is a prime example of someone who has surpassed all expectations.”

Nield is a CPA with more than 13 years of broad range public and private industry accounting experience with specialties in financial forecasting and maintaining compliance of state laws and reporting standards. Prior to joining Gentris in 2004, Nield worked internationally in the Transaction Services Mergers and Acquisitions division of PriceWaterhouse Coopers. She holds dual BS degrees in Accounting and Marketing from the University of North Carolina.

This announcement comes shortly after Gentris finalized an exclusive ten-year licensing agreement with FALCO biosystems Ltd., one of the largest publicly-traded medical testing laboratories in Japan. The agreement marks the establishment of Japan’s first Good Laboratory Practice (GLP)-compliant pharmacogenomics laboratory, moving Japan into the era of personalized medicine.
