Nashville, TN - Legendary guitarist, Grammy nominee and Dove Award winner Phil Keaggy will join multi-Dove Award-winning artist Michael English, two-time Grammy Award winner Russ Taff, multi-Dove Award-winning artist Clay Crosse and musical duo Keith and Megan Cook on Saturday, September 30, 2006 for the "A Place Called Hope" benefit concert. The second annual event will be held at Eastland Baptist Church (1215 Gallatin Rd) in Nashville, Tenn. The concert will help raise awareness and monetary funds for the local chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, a national association that supports more research on neuromuscular diseases than any other private-sector organization in the world. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door, and artist circle seats are available for $25. For ticket information, please call 615-977-3636. Portions of the show will be televised by Nashville's Fox 17 station to be aired during 2007's Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon.

"We wanted to put together a lineup that would provide a great night of music and ministry for a wide variety of fans," comments Karen Russell, producer of Fox 17's "Tennessee Mornings." She continues noting that Phil Keaggy was asked to be a part of the event as, "Michael wanted to perform with people who had impacted his life and his music throughout the years."

Michael English raves that, "Phil Keaggy is one of the most gifted musicians I have ever met in my life… everything he does is a musical masterpiece!"

During the concert, Keaggy will showcase selections from his much-anticipated new vocal album, which is due out in late Fall 2006. He'll also treat the audience to a sampling of music from his upcoming instrumental "looping" project, Roundabout, which releases on November 7, 2006.

Keaggy's solo career has spanned more than 30 years and has included close to 50 solo albums, both vocal and instrumental, as well as eight releases with his highly acclaimed band Glass Harp. His music has been honored with seven Dove Awards and a Grammy nomination. He continues to sell out concerts all over the US with his ever-changing style, ranging from rock 'n' roll to fully orchestrated instrumental compositions. His fans range from those who aspire just to be able to play Keaggy's mistakes to professional guitarists who have been strongly influenced by his style. And in between are those who don't play guitar, yet find solace in his beautifully penned lyrics and memorable melodies. The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) is a voluntary health agency — a dedicated partnership between scientists and concerned citizens aimed at conquering neuromuscular diseases that affect more than a million Americans. MDA was created in 1950 by a group of adults with muscular dystrophy, parents of children with muscular dystrophy and a physician-scientist studying the disorder. Since its earliest days it has been energized by its number-one volunteer and national chairman, entertainer Jerry Lewis. MDA combats neuromuscular diseases through programs of worldwide research, comprehensive medical and community services and far-reaching professional and public health education. With national headquarters in Tucson, MDA has more than 200 offices across the country, sponsors 230 hospital-affiliated clinics and supports nearly 400 research projects around the world. The Association's programs are funded almost entirely by individual private contributors. Additional information about the MDA is available at http://www.mda.org.
