Postponing the “2nd NORTHERN MOTOR EXPO”
until New Hall is ready in 2009

Mr. Kwanchai Paphatphong, Chairman of Inter-Media Consultant Co., Ltd. and Organizing Chairman of “THAILAND INTERNATIONAL MOTOR EXPO” disclosed that, “the company would postpone organizing the “2nd NORTHERN MOTOR EXPO”, in collaboration with the Federation of Thai Industries, Chiang Mai Chapter, until a permanent venue is available”.

“The recently held “1st NORTHERN MOTOR EXPO” was well received by visitors and all parties concerned. However, the company suffered a loss of 10 million Baht because the Show Hall was so lacking in amenities that the company had to rent air-conditioned dome from Singapore at a very high cost of 14 million Baht. Together with other expenses, the total cost of organizing the EXPO amounted to more than 50 million Baht. The company therefore decides to postpone holding the next “NORTHERN MOTOR EXPO” until a suitable Show Hall is in place, which is expected to be in the year 2009.”

The “NORTHERN MOTOR EXPO” in Chiang Mai was the largest Motor Show in the North, with the objectives of facilitating buying and selling of cars, motorcycles, commercial vehicles, ancillary equipment, as well as bringing advances in automotive technology to consumers in the region.

Mr. Kwanchai added, “In 2007 the company will organize “NORTHEASTERN MOTOR EXPO” at the Golden Jubilee Hall in Khon Kaen. This 17 million Baht Hall is a large 2-storey convention hall, with 10,000 – 12,000 sq. m. of show area, fully air-conditioned. And in 2009 the company plans to extend the EXPO down to the south, with 3 Changwats being considered for feasibility, viz. Phuket, Song Khla (Hat Yai) and Surat Thani”.
