Transportation director arrives at GAI engineering firm

Pittsburgh, PA – Award-winning transportation professional, Denny Semsick, joins GAI Consultants, Inc. of Homestead, Pa., as its new director of Transportation Development.

Mr. Semsick has more than 39 years experience in the transportation-related field, arriving most recently from Gibson-Thomas Engineering Co. in Latrobe, Pa. Prior to that, he was employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Engineering District 10-0, in Indiana, for 35 years until his retirement in March 2003. At GAI, Semsick will be involved with Quality Assurance and leading the ISO 9001-2000 Engineering Process development.

Earning his educational expertise from the Western Pennsylvania Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh, Semsick has been the recipient of a lengthy list of awards, including: 1989 Secretary of Transportation Award for Excellence; 1997 Quality Conference Award for “Moving Penn DOT Forward”; 1997 Quality Award for “Consultant Invoice Process Modifications”; and an April 1997 Honorable Mention by Rodney Slater, U.S. Department of Transportation for the National Environmental Excellence Award for the Ghost Town Trail Project.

A longtime Indiana, Pa., resident, Semsick has a wife Cheryl, two sons and four grandchildren. He is a three-year board member of the American Society of Highway Engineers: Altoona Section and a member of the society’s Indiana Section.
