A group of web publishers in Warsaw, Poland opened an independent architectural bulletin for a local commercial spaces / real estate market. “The clients are bored with monotonous offers, so are the final users of commercial spaces – we want to lighten up the limited, cost driven market to expand its creativity, ergonomic and variety of available solutions.” says one of the major founders of http://www.miejsca.org/, wanting to remain anonymous.

The initiative is aimed at decision-making people – mostly at architects, developers and administrators of commercial spaces and is backed by professionals in the key fields. Being an open, web 2.0 service it is a serious competition for major players in the field – conventional publishers. Its clear mission (http://www.miejsca.org/witamy_w_miejsca.org.html) and openness toward community will – the publishers believe – prove a success.

Polish commercial spaces market is in the process of rapid changes. High demand throughout the 90s resulted in a construction of a number of class-A office buildings in major cities. Yet the transition from remains of socialism in architecture and design is yet to be completed. The problem seems to be the lack of widespread originality and care for design. The publishers of MIEJSCA.org bulletin think the causes of this situation are not only tight budgets but rather lack of long-time perspective and importance of soft values in generating overall high standard places.
