Walking for a Good Cause – South Shore Elder Services to hold their annual walkathon on Sunday, November 5th

Burn calories and raise money as you “Stroll the Mall for Meals On Wheels” on Sunday, November 5th from 8:30 to 11 a.m. South Shore Elder Services, a non-profit agency in Braintree that provides valuable resources and services to elders and caregivers throughout the South Shore area, will hold their annual walkathon fundraiser at the South Shore Plaza in Braintree to support the Meals On Wheels program. Last year, walkers raised more than $16,000.

Help raise money for South Shore Elder Services’ Meals On Wheels program, in which volunteers deliver meals to more than 1,300 homebound elders throughout the South Shore who are unable to prepare meals, have someone prepare meals for them or who are unable to attend a nutrition center in the community.

Bring your friends, family and neighbors as more than 300 walkers of all ages gather to “Stroll the Mall for Meals On Wheels”. All pledge money raised supports South Shore Elder Services’ Nutrition Program.

Children will have the opportunity to make Thanksgiving Cards for elders, color on magnets; receive balloon animals from a clown and meet the distinguished Sir Lunch a Lot, South Shore Elder’s dinosaur mascot. The first 200 children at the event will receive a free dinosaur t-shirt.

The first 100 walkers who raise at least $50 will receive a free long-sleeve t-shirt. Gift cards to the South Shore Plaza will be given to the top three adults and top three children who raise the most money. The youth team that raises the most money will win a pizza party. Participating students will receive four community service hours.
