Camp Chef, a Utah-based manufacturer of high-end cooking equipment, participated in the October 18th charity concert and luau to benefit the Pauni family of Logan, Utah, recipients of a new home through ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” television program. Camp Chef donated staff time and equipment to roast more than 1,000 hot dogs for hungry concertgoers.

The Logan community hosted the event at Utah State University’s Dee Glen Smith Spectrum, HPER Field and Stadium. Prior to the concert and luau, a “Pre-Concert Party” was held featuring food, fun and mascots and athletes from Real Salt Lake and the Utah Blaze.

Ty Measom, president of Camp Chef, said his team is grateful for the opportunity to participate in an event that will benefit a hard-working, deserving family.

“We get to cook at a lot of fun events around the country,” Measom said. “But to cook right in our own backyard and help a family within our own community, nothing could be better.”

The Emmy-winning “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” is in its 4th season and chose the Pauni family as the recipient of a dream home because of their selfless work in the community, despite their hardships. The Pauni family moved to Utah from Tonga in 1991 in pursuit of a better life and greater educational opportunities. In 2004, father Danny Pauni died of a heart attack, leaving his wife Janet, their nine children and a live-in nephew struggling emotionally and financially. For the past two years the family has maintained four businesses to make ends meet.

Money raised from the concert and luau will be used to help pay off the Pauni family’s pre-existing mortgage and also to provide a nest egg to help with the family’s expenses.

Camp Chef was started and is headquartered in Logan and strives to be a good corporate citizen by donating time and resources to such charitable organizations as Boys & Girls Club of America, Stokes Nature Center and schools in the Logan area, as well as the “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” concert and luau.
