Costa Mesa, CA—In the wake of last week’s announcement of Eurobike’s intention to launch another bicycle trade event in 2007, the NBDA reaffirms its support and reminds the industry of Interbike’s outstanding contributions.

Bob Updegraff, current NBDA President and owner of Harley’s Bicycles in Hutchinson, KS states, “For years Interbike has produced fantastic trade shows benefiting both the exhibitors and the attending retailers. Although competition pushes business to create the most optimum products the market demands, we believe Interbike is best positioned to deliver the most productive marketplace for bicycle industry suppliers, our members and the specialty bicycle retailer base.”

Without the support of Interbike, many of the NBDA’s great accomplishments could not have come to fruition. The NBDA Super Seminars provide business education to thousands of specialty bicycle retailers at Interbike in Las Vegas and regional markets around the country. Research studies like the Cost of Doing Business study, consumer research and various other market studies add to the industry's ability to analyze and respond to market trends. Advocacy support for organizations like the Bikes Belong, the Thunderhead Alliance, and the Bicycle Leadership Conference have all helped make a stronger industry—all benefiting from Interbike's support.

Fred Clements, NBDA Executive Director states, “It is too early to know whether this new event will have any impact on Interbike or the NBDA. Our industry has certainly supported multiple trade shows in the past with some success, but the last few years with a one-show environment has allowed for exceptional trade events and a growing sense of community between suppliers and retailers more than ever before. The NBDA will continue to enthusiastically partner with Interbike to have dynamic and useful events that serve the interests of our members and our industry.”

The NBDA not only supports and endorses Interbike, but other partners and affiliates including the Bikes Belong Coalition, Thunderhead Alliance, National Bike Summit and the Bicycle Leadership Conference. The NBDA also publishes Bicycle Retailer and Industry News under license from VNU, parent company of Interbike. For more information or to join the NBDA visit http://www.nbda.com.
